Disney World is full of magic and fun! I spent last weekend visiting with my college friends in Orlando for a mini-reunion (or should I say… MINNIE reunion?). We had such a great time, even though it rained all weekend long! I actually think that helped us, since park attendance was down, we didn’t have to spend such a long time waiting in lines. Of course I was prepared with Minnie Mouse nail art, and I bought some Minnie ears to match!
Here are a few photos, just for funsies (and then back to the nail art, I promise!)
That’s me with my friend, Ellie <3 just being silly on a tram, wearing Minnie ears.
You probably know by now that I have gotten really excited about gels. It’s true! I especially love wearing gels when I’m traveling, mostly because I know I won’t have to worry about them chipping. I always get so stressed, and end up packing extra polish for touch ups. But since I know gel will last longer, I don’t even bother.
Here’s the secret to doing nail art with gel: cure it a lot, between each color. Gel is different than traditional polish in that it doesn’t dry as you go along, so if you have too much gel on your nail it will start to slide around a little bit, especially if you reposition your hand at all. To be on the safe side, I cured in between each color. For this look, I applied and cured Couture Gel Nail Polish base coat, and then did 2 coats of Couture Gel Nail Polish After Party (curing between each coat). Then I applied Little Black dress – but I was worried that it would slide around, especially with the more solid Minnies, so I actually designed and cured one nail at a time. Then I applied Ooh La La French with a dotting tool, and cured once more. I finished with the top coat, and then cured everything one last time. I think it helped me set my designs so I could continue working. The look has held up really well, and it’s so shiny!
